University of Bridgeport Director of Athletics Anthony Vitti has announced that Tristan McLaren has been selected as UB's first-ever Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. McLaren comes to Bridgeport from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut where he has served as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach since October of 2015. Prior to his time at Trinity, Tristan worked as a Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach in the New York Mets organization from December 2013 to October 2015.
Said Vitti, "We are pleased to welcome Tristan to the University of Bridgeport where he will be a trailblazer in this new and necessary position for us. He brings a wealth of experience working with all sports, and I'm sure he will be a huge asset, not only to our athletic programs and student-athletes, but also to the University as a whole."
McLaren is a 2007 graduate of Hofstra University, where he was member of the football team, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, and he also holds a Master of Science in Human Performance from Ithaca College.
Stated McLaren, "I'm excited to be at the University of Bridgeport and have the opportunity to serve as a resource for the student-athletes and direct a comprehensive sports performance program that will help them to be healthy and physically prepared for their sport. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and I'm eager to take advantage of the resources here on campus and start working together with our athletes, coaches, medical staff and administrators."
He also has intercollegiate strength and conditioning experience serving as a graduate assistant at Ithaca from August 2012-December 2013, and he also interned at Winthrop University during the spring and summer semesters of 2012.
