Senior Nick Vautrin Named Co-ECC Pitcher Of The Week For Second Straight Week
His Second Straight Shutout Clinched A Spot For UB In 2012 ECC Championship
Central Islip, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport senior right-handed Nick Vautrin (South Hadley, Mass.) have been selected as Co-East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week for his outstanding play during the week of April 30-May 6, 2012. This is the second consecutive week that Nick has been selected as the Co-ECC Pitcher of the Week. He was also recognized this week with a selection as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Pitcher of the Week.
Vautrin, who shared this week's ECC Picher of the Week Award with Marc Rutledge of Dowling, pitched UB into the 2012 ECC Championship Tournament as he hurled his second consecutive shutout on Saturday night as he blanked Molloy on only three infield hits in the Purple Knights' 5-0 victory. Nick worked seven innings in which he walked only one and fanned four. Vautrin has both of Bridgeport's shutouts this season, and he heads into the ECC Tournament on a 14-inning scoreless streak.
Bridgeport opens play in the 2012 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday against St. Thomas Aquinas College.
