Purple Knights Well Represented On All-East Coast Conference Basketball Teams
Central Islip, N.Y.-Three members of the regular season East Coast Conference champion University of Bridgeport men's basketball team and two members of the UB women's basketball team have been named to the 2011 All-East Coast Conference basketball squads. Purple Knights' head men's basketball coach, Mike Ruane, was also selected as the ECC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year by his peers for the second consecutive season, and the third time in his 11-year career at the University of Bridgeport.
Boykin, a graduate student form White Plains, N.Y., is making his second straight appearance on the All-ECC First Team. During this season, Boykin became the 28th player in University of Bridgeport school history to reach the 1,000 career point plateau. He enters this weekend's East Coast Conference Championship Tournament averaging 12.9 points per game.
Washington, a senior from Philadelphia, Pa, leads the Purple Knights in scoring average at 13.9 points per game, and he leads UB with 83 total assists so far this season.
Ikyaator, a senior form Nigeria, West Africa, has had a solid all-around 2010-11 season averaging 11.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, plus he leads the team in blocked shots with 24. Msoo also leads the Purple Knights in field goal percentage as he has connected on 55.7 percent of his shots (112-194).
Keil, a senior from Sparta, N.J., leads the Bridgeport women's team in both scoring and rebounds averaging 14.8 points and 8.1 boards per game. Kelly also leads the team with 78 blocked shots so far this year.
Avny, a senior from Raanaana, Israel, is averaging 12.0 points per game in 2010-11, and she leads the team in three-point shots made with 71 through 27 games.
