Purple Knights Crush Clippers, 7-0, In Men's Soccer Action
Bridgeport, CT-Freshman forward
Jonathan Arisitzabel (Medellin, Colombia) scored
three goals and had two assists to notch eight points on the night
to help the University of Bridgeport men's soccer team to a
7-0 romp over the Concordia (NY) College Clippers in a
non-conference match played at Knights Field on Tuesday night.
With the win, the Purple Knights are now 4-2-2
overall. Concordia falls to 2-7-0 on the season.
Arisitzabel now leads the team in scoring with 12 points
through eight matches on four goals and four assists.
Junior Nick Smith (Waterville, OH) opened the
scoring in the match, as he netted his first goal in a UB uniform
just 6:27 into play.
Sophomore Patric Brundin (Gothenburg, Sweden)
had a fine night scoring two goals and adding one assist.
Senior LeRoux Lothian (Kingston, Jamaica)
scored the other goal for the Purple Knights, and classmate
Habib Sylla (New Haven, CT) added his team-leading
sixth assist one of Brundin's tallies.
Juniors Milos Suljagic (Belgrade, Serbia),
who made four saves in the first half, and Peter
Barrows (Old Saybrook, CT), who made three second half
stops, shared the clean sheet in the Bridgeport net. As team,
the Purple Knights have now posted five shut outs in their eight
matches played.
Bridgeport returns to action at home on Saturday afternoon, as
UB opens 2009 East Coast Conference action against C.W. Post
University at 1:00 p.m.
