Men's Soccer Now 5-0 In ECC Play After 1-0 Win At Mercy

Sutherland (Branford, CT) scored his first goal of the
2009 season with just 3:57 remaining in regulation time to keep the
University of Bridgeport men's soccer team perfect in East Coast
Conference play at 5-0-0 with a 1-0 road win over the Mercy College
Mavericks. The victory also keeps the Purple Knights unbeaten
in their last seven matches (6-0-1) and raises the team's overall
season record to 9-2-3. Mercy falls to 1-4-0 in the ECC and is
3-8-0 overall.
Sutherland scored the game-winner off an assist from classmate
Gilbert Bayonne (Amityville, NY).
UB goalkeeper Milos Suljagic (JR, Belgrade,
Serbia) played well in net for the Purple Knights making seven
saves to record fifth shut out of the season.
Next up for the men's soccer team is home match against
Dowling College at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening (October
24th).
