UB Gymnastics Scores School Record 194.200 Points To Win Home Quad Meet

Bridgeport, CT-It was a record-setting night for the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team, as the Purple Knights won their seventh consecutive competition on Friday with a school-record point total of 194.200. UB took first place in the quad-meet topping Towson (193.075), Temple (190.650) and Southern Connecticut State University (190.375).

In the individual events, the Purple Knights swept the top three spots in the floor exercise, as sophomore Miranda Der (Palo Alto, CA) tied the school-record in the event with a score of 9.875. Junior Lorraine Galow (Suwanee, GA) and newcomer Monica Mesalles (Barcelona. Spain) tied for second place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.850.
 

On the uneven parallel bars, senior Hannah Forti (Dix Hills, NY) won the event with a total of 9.750. Lorraine Galow was part of a three-way tie for second place with a score of 9.725.

 
On the balance beam, Galow and sophomore Emily Repko (Gilbertsville, PA) tied for second place with a score of 9.725.
 
In the vault, Monica Mesalles was the top UB finisher as she was part of four-way tie for second place with a score of 9.850.
 
In the all-around, Lorraine Galow tied four first place with Towson's  Kacy Cantanzaro, as they each scored a total of 38.925 over the four events. Galow's total of 38.925 ties her school all-around record set last season. Miranda Der was fourth in the all-around with a score of 38.675.
 
The Bridgeport gymnastics team is back in action on Sunday at Penn State University.
