Women's Soccer Standouts Kasey Kenny And Julia Hansson Receive Weekly ECC Awards
Pair Helps Purple Knights Raise Their Record To 5-0 On The Season
Central Islip, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport women's soccer players senior, forward Kasey Kenny (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been named this week's East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, and teammate sophomore, goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) has been selected as the ECC Defensive Player of the Week for their outstanding play in matches from September 12-September 18, 2011. This is the second time this season, Hansson has been selected as ECC Defensive Player of the Week.
Last week, Kenny continued her strong play for the Purple Knights with seven points in two matches, as she scored three goals and had one assist as Kasey helped UB remained undefeated on the season with two wins. In a 3-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire, she scored two goals, and Kenny closed out the week with a goal and an assists in a 2-0 win at Mercy. On the season, she leads Bridgeport in all major offensive categories with 13 points on five goals and three assists.
Hansson, last week, allowed only one goal in two matches for a 0.50 goals against average, as she made a total of eight saves on the week, stopping three shots on goal versus SNHU and five in recording the clean sheet at Mercy. Hansson has allowed only two goals in five matches and has 0.40 goals against average.
This week, UB travels to Bloomsburg (Pa.) on Tuesday night and hosts C.W. Post on Saturday.
