Julia Hansson Named ECC Defensive Player of the Week
Central Islip, N.Y.-For the second straight week and third time this season, University of Bridgeport sophomore goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Last week, Hansson continued her top-notch play in net for the Purple Knights so far in 2011 as she record two clean sheets blanking Bloomsburg on the road, 1-0, and C.W. Post at home, 2-0. Hansson has now recorded three straight shutouts and has a total of five so far in 2011. Last week's two shutouts extend her scoreless streak to a total of 306 minutes and 55 seconds. At Bloomsburg, Julia made nine saves, and she stopped five shots versus C.W. Post.
This week, Hansson and her teammates play two home matches facing Stonehill on Wednesday night and NYIT on Saturday afternoon.
