Bridgeport Women's Soccer Moves To Number One In The Nation
7-0-0 Purple Knights Sit Atop National Poll For The First Time In Program History
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team has moved up to the number one spot in the nation in this week's national NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday afternoon. The Purple Knights, who are currently 7-0-0 on the season, hold on to the number one spot in the East Regional rankings for the third consecutive week. This is the first time in history that the UB women's soccer program has reached the number one spot in the NSCAA national Top-25.
In the NSCAA national Top-25, the UB women have steadily risen throughout the season from number 17 in week one, to number seven two weeks ago, to the number five slot last week, to number one this week.
This week, head coach Magnus Nilerud's team plays two home matches hosting a non-conference contest versus Stonehill on Wednesday at 6:00 pm and taking on NYIT in an East Coast Conference matchup on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
