Bridgeport, Conn.-For the second consecutive week, the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team is ranked number one in the country in the national NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday afternoon. The Purple Knights, who are currently 9-0-0 on the season, hold on to the number one spot in the East Regional rankings for the fourth consecutive week. Last week marked the first time in history that the UB women's soccer program has reached the number one spot in the NSCAA national Top-25.
In the NSCAA national Top-25, the UB women have steadily risen throughout the season from number 17 in week one, to number seven in week two, to the number five slot in week three, to number one the last two weeks.
This week, head coach Magnus Nilerud's team plays two road matches, a non-conference contest at Saint Anselm on Tuesday at 3:15 pm and an East Coast Conference matchup on Saturday at 12:00 noon versus Molloy.
