UB Swim Teams Wrap Up Tremendously Successful 2010 NCAA Division II Championship Meet

Canton, OH-The University of Bridgeport men's
and women's swimming teams wrapped up tremendously successful trips
to the 2010 NCAA Division II National Championship Meet held in
Canton, OH on Saturday night. The UB men, as a first-year
program in their inaugural trip to the National Championship Meet,
finished 17th out of 29 teams that scored with 77 points, and the
Bridgeport women took 14th place out of 37 teams that scored with
94 points.
Saturday's action for the Purple Knights was highlighted by the performance of Pitor Safronczyk (SO, Bialystok, Poland), who followed up his NCAA title in the men's 100-yard Breaststroke with an All-America performance in the 200-yard Breaststroke with a fourth place finish in a time of 2:00.64.
On the women's side, sophomore Sandra Schmitz (Breuhl, Germany) took 15th in the 200-yard Backstroke with a time of 2:04.51, which earned her Honorable Mention All-America honors.
The women's 400-yard free relay team capped the meet off for UB by finishing in 13th place in a time of 3:30..09 to take home more Honorable Mention All-America accolades for the Purple and White.
