Noufissa Chbihi Anchors Moroccan 400 Medlay Relay Team To Silver Medal At African Open Swimming Championshps
UB Sophomore Shines In Front Of Large And Raucous Crowd In Her Home Country.
Casablanca, Morocco-University of Bridgeport sophomore Noufissa Chbihi picked up a silver medal at the Tenth African Open Swimming Championships representing her home country of Morocco, as she anchored the 400 Medley Relay Team to second place finish by swimming 59.32 in the 100-meter Freestyle leg. Chbihi held off the Tunisian team that was closing quickly to grab the silver medal for her native land in front of a large and raucous crowd that included the leader of Morocco, King Mohammed the VI.
The Moroccan 400 Medley Relay Team set a national record grabbing the silver medal with a time of 4:22.88.
Earlier in the day on Friday, Noufissa finished sixth in the championship finals 200 IM with a time of 2:28.31.
Competition in the Tenth African Open Swimming Championships continues through Sunday.
