University of Bridgeport Ranked Number 25 In The Nation In First NCAA Division II Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Standings Of The 2010-11 Academic Year

Cleveland, Ohio-The University of Bridgeport checks in at number 25 in the country in the first Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings of the 2010-11 academic year.  The Purple Knights women's volleyball and women's soccer teams outstanding performances in this fall's NCAA Division II National Championship Tournaments have given UB a total of 114 points in the Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.  Grand Valley State University is number one in the Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings with a total of 358 points after winning the 2010 women's soccer and women's cross country Division II national titles.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women's and seven men's.
