Ying Shen Named ECC Volleyball Player Of The Week
Second Straight Week A Purple Knight Volleyballer Has Been Recognized By The Conference
Central Islip, N.Y.-For the second consecutive week, a member of the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team has been named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week. After senior Taylor McBeth was named ECC Player of the Week last week, teammate Ying Shen (So., Nanjing, China) has had her outstanding play recognized by the ECC.
Shen, a transfer from Syracuse University, was outstanding in Bridgeport's 3-0 win over St. Anselm on Saturday in the team's only action of the week, as she led the Purple Knights with 13 kills and added 10 digs, three service aces, four block assists and one assist. Ying hit an impressive .579 on the day with those 13 kills on 19 attacks with only two errors.
The Bridgeport volleyball team is 4-1 so far in 2012, and the squad returns to the court this Saturday afternoon at UMass Lowell.
