Purple Knights Fall Twice At Lindenwood University Women's Volleyball Challenge

St. Charles, Mo.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team opened play in the Lindenwood University Challenge on Friday, and the Purple Knights lost a pair of matches falling to the host Lions in straight sets, 16-25, 16-25, 14-25, and dropping a 17-25, 12-25, 18-25 decision against Missouri St. Louis.

The Purple Knights are now 1-3 on the young 2017 season.

Against Lindenwood, senior Bruna Santos (Curitiba, Brazil) led UB with nine kills, and sophomore Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) and freshman Hunter Barker (Parker, Colo.), each chipped in six kills.  Junior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had 19 assists.

Versus UMSL, Santos again led the team with eight kills, and Barker added seven.  Senior Sheri Middleton (Humboldt, Kan.) had six kills and hit .385 in Friday's second match, and Rich totaled 22 assists.

The UB women's volleyball team will wrap up action at Lindenwood University Challenge on Saturday with matches against Missouri Western State and St. Mary's of Texas.
