Both Cross Country Teams Take First Place In Post Meet

Waterbury, CT-The University of Bridgeport
men's and women's cross teams both took first place in their
respective races in a meet hosted by Post University on Wednesday
afternoon. The UB men were first out of three teams with 16
points. Post University was second with 49 points followed by
Albertus Magnus with 100 points. The UB women were first out
of four teams with 27 points. Post was second with 39 points,
followed by Caldwell with 84 points and Albertus Magnus with 89
points.
In the men's race, Bridgeport took the first four places in
the race, with sophomore Brian
Bor (Eldoret, Kenya) taking first place in a time
of 17:02. Senior Dave James (Stamford, CT)
was second in a time of 17:34, followed by freshman Rich
Lubrano (Dix Hills, NY) in third with a time of 17:55 and
freshman Vince Audinot (Commack, NY) in fourth
with a time of 18:51. Seniors Richard
Greenwood (Kingston, Jamaica) and Omar
Isa (Santo Domingo, D.R.) grabbed sixth and seventh place
and sophomore Nikola Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) was
ninth and senior Jamal White (Bronx, NY) took
tenth place for the Purple Knights.
For the Bridgeport women, graduate student Sara
Santo was the team's top finisher taking second place with
a time of 21:24. Freshman Jennavie
Orrell (Gloucester, MA) was third in a time of 21:32.
Senior Anna
Zahova (Velingrad, Bulgaria) was fifth with a time of
22:01 and sophomore Sandra
Schmitz (Breuhl, Germany) was sixth in a time of
22:13.
Next up for both UB cross country team will be the East Coast
Conference Championship Meet hosted by C.W. Post University on
October 25, 2009.
