For The Second Consecutive Week-Three Purple Knights Earn ECC Accolades

West Babylon, N.Y.-For the second consecutive week, three University of Bridgeport student-athletes have been recognized by the East Coast Conference with weekly honors for their outstanding play in matches that took place from October 1 through 7, 2018.

Junior women's soccer player Nara DaCosta (Pancas, Brazil) has been selected as the ECC's Offensive Player of the Week.

From the Bridgeport women's volleyball team, sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) has been named as the East Coast Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and the third time in 2018.

Freshman Oscar Facey (Trangsund, Sweden) from men's soccer has earned conference Rookie of the Week accolades.

DaCosta helped the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team go unbeaten in three matches on the week scoring six goals, two in each match along  with one game winner, for a total of 12 points. Perhaps Nara's best outing can in a 2-2 draw at Adelphi on Tuesday night when she netted both of UB's goals. She followed that up with two goals in a road win over Lincoln (Pa.) and two more in a home victory over Daemen.

Johnson led the Bridgeport defense from her libero position averaging 5.4 digs per set. At Daemen on Friday night, she totaled a match-best 22 digs, and she followed that up with 21 at Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. On the week, Johnson also added eight total assists. On the year, Klein is averaging 4.65 digs per set.

Facey was simply outstanding in two UB matches last week amassing four points on one goal and two assists. In a loss at UDC on Wednesday, Oscar led the Purple Knights with six shots, three of which were on goal, and he followed that up by figuring in all three scores in a 3-1 win over Daemen on Saturday, scoring the match's first goal and assisting on his team's other two tallies including the game winner.

Freshman Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was named to the ECC Honor for volleyball this week.
