Bridgeport, CT-For the sixth time in the last
eight years and the 18th time in school history, the University of
Bridgeport men's basketball team, under the direction of tenth year
head coach Mike Ruane, will participate in
the 64-team, NCAA Division II National Championship
Tournament. Bridgeport will head to the 2010 NCAA Division II
East Regional with a 23-8 overall record after winning the East
Coast Conference Championship Tournament on Sunday to receive the
ECC's automatic bid to the championship The Purple Knights
will be the number seven seed at the regional, and they will face
the number two seed, Bentley University Falcons, out of the
Northeast-10 Conference on Saturday, March 14th at Stonehill
College in Easton, MA. Game time is for 2:30
p.m. The UB-Bentley game is a rematch of a regional
first round game from 2009 which saw the Falcons defeat the Purple
Knights, 79-53. The two teams have already met during this
regular season with Bentley posting a one-point win, 66-65, in
Bridgeport on December 29, 2009.

The 2009 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball East Regional
semifinals will be played on Sunday March 15th, and the regional
final will be held on Tuesday, March 17th.
