Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the visiting American International Yellow Jackets, 87-75, in non-conference action in Hubbell Gym. With the win the Purple Knights are now 6-8 overall. AIC is also now 6-8 overall.
Senior Dennis Green (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with a game-high 16 points off the bench. Dennis was efficient in his 21 minutes on the floor, going 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-3 from three-point range. Sophomore Travis Robinson-Morgan (Elmont, N.Y.) and Vakas Iqbal (Staten Island, N.Y.) also reached double-digits in points, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively. Robinson-Morgan also grabbed a team-best six rebounds.
As a team, Bridgeport got of their 87 points from the bench.
The Purple Knights return to East Coast Conference play on Wednesday night at home as they host the Mercy Mavericks. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
