Piotr Safronczyk Earns National Swimmer of the Week Honors Plus D II Male Swimmer of the Week Accolades

Somers, WI-University of Bridgeport men's swimmer Pitor Safronczyk has been selected National Swimmer of the Week, plus the NCAA Division II Men's Swimmer of the Week by collegeswimming.com on January 27, 2010.  Pitor selection as the National Swimmer of the Week marks the first time ever that a UB swimmer (male or female) has been so honored.  This is the second time this season that Safronczyk has been selected as Division II Male Swimmer of the Week.

Piotr Safronczyk, University of Bridgeport

Safronczyk (Bialystok, Poland) had three wins double dual meet victories over Pace University (41 - 34) and Ramapo College (67 - 53).  The sophomore won the 100 breaststroke (56.70, NCAA "A" time), the 200 breaststroke (2:06.38, NCAA "B" time) and the 200 individual medley (1:56.47, NCAA "B" time)   Piotr also swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1:35.57).
