Men's Swimming Takes # 1 Spot In NCAA Division II Avidasports Collegiate Swimming Rankings
Women Check In At Number Three In the Nation In Avidasports Rankings
Harper Woods, Mich.-The University of Bridgeport men's swimming team has moved into the number one spot in the nation, and the UB women's swimming team holds down the number three spot in the country in the Avidasports Collegiate Swimming Rankings for the third week of the 2011-12 season.
The rankings are determined by the following methodology:
The Avida Performance Index is a ranking of average percentile for each team's individual swims. Rankings are taken from Hy-Tek result files received from teams by 12:00 CST each Tuesday. Percentile and Improvement indicators are averaged for teams swimming in multiple meets. These times are compared to collegeswimming.com's database of best times achieved by collegiate swimmers over the past three years. An index of 22.2, for example, indicates that a team's swims ranked, on average, among the top 22.2% of all best times. Teams must have a minimum of eighteen individual swims to qualify for each week's rankings with a share of the lowest-ranked swims omitted based on the number of swims. Each team's specific performance data can be found by clicking on the "Beta" link from the meet results.
Both Bridgeport swimming teams are back in action this weekend at Assumption College on Friday and at the USMMA Invitational on Saturday.
