Bridgeport, CT-The University
of Bridgeport women's volleyball team swept the Mercy College
Mavericks at home on Thursday night, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22, in an
East Coast Conference contest. The win is UB's sixth in
a row, and the Purple Knights have now won 20 of their last 21
matches. The victory lifts Bridgeport's overall season
record to 29-4, and the team remains unbeaten in conference play at
10-0. The 29 wins are a new single season school record for
victories surpassing last season's total of 28. Mercy
falls to 4-21 overall, and the Mavericks are winless in ECC play at
0-10.
Junior
Terry Masava (Nairobi, Kenya) led the
Purple Knights' offense on Thursday with 15 kills, and she
tied for the team lead in digs on the night with setter
Yael Cohen (Jerusalem, Israel), as they each had
10. Cohen also had 31 assists in the victory.
Agatha Baliddawa (Grad., Jinja, Uganda)
joined Masava in double figure kills with 13.
The Purple Knights will next be action at home on Tuesday
night when the host the Dowling College Golden Lions in a key East
Coast Conference and regional match. Action gets underway in
Hubbell Gym at 7:00 p.m.
