Oros and Ortiz Selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week (March 10-16)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After registering tremendous efforts on the diamond last week, Angela Oros of the University of Bridgeport's softball team and Christian Ortiz of the baseball squad have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending March 16.

Oros, who was named the CACC's Player of the Week on Monday, batted .692 (9-for-13) with six RBIs and three walks during UB's four-game stretch last week. She provided three of those hits—a pair of doubles and a home run— in Bridgeport's 6-5 win over Wilmington on Saturday. All in all, Oros piled up 16 total bases last week and scored three runs.

Ortiz was equally terrific at the dish last week. The New Jersey native went 7-for-11 (.636) with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored as UB split a four-game series against Caldwell. He also walked four times to finish the stretch with an on-base percentage of .750. Ortiz capped off his stretch with a 6-for-7 performance during Sunday's doubleheader.
