BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – As the countdown to the 2025-26 school year continues, the University of Bridgeport's Director of Athletics Anthony Vitti has announced the promotion of Jordan Thurman to UB's Head Athletic Trainer effectively immediately. Thurman has been at UB as an assistant in the training room since August of 2022.
"Jordan has been an outstanding asset to our team as Assistant Athletic Trainer and has consistently demonstrated a genuine commitment to the well-being of our student-athletes," said Vitti. "I am thrilled to announce her promotion to Head Athletic Trainer. I have full confidence in her leadership and vision for the Sports Medicine department, and I look forward to seeing her excel in this new role as she continues to deliver exceptional care and support to our athletes."
Thurman, who will be starting her fourth year at UB this fall, will now oversee the day-to-day operations of the training room while supervising all AT staff and constituents.
Additionally, Thurman will continue to work with team physicians/consultants and sports medicine staff to direct the daily care, rehabilitation and prevention of athletic injuries for all Bridgeport student-athletes.
"I'm honored to step into this new role and continue contributing to the growth and success of UB Athletics," said Thurman. "I'm grateful for the support of my colleagues and mentors who have helped me reach this point, and I'm excited to lead with purpose and take on new challenges ahead!"
Thurman originally came to Bridgeport after serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at nearby Fairfield Warde High School for seven years.
Thurman was a jack of all trades during her time at Fairfield Warde. She cared for and evaluated orthopedic and general medical pathologies for over 35 different sports. She also educated athletes on the prevention of common orthopedic injuries and established unique dynamic warm-up routines for individual teams.
In addition to her professional experience, Thurman also owns several certifications. She is First Aid/CPR/AED certified, BOC certified and a member of NATA. Thurman is also certified in cupping therapy.
Academically, Thurman earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Hofstra University in 2015. As an AT student, she assisted Certified Athletic Trainers with care and prevention of injuries, aided during emergency medical situations, and developed rehabilitation protocols and daily treatments.
