Jessen and Toussi Announced as UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Sept. 29 - Oct. 5)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In honor of several sterling performances on the court and in the pool last week, junior Hailey Jessen of the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team and Christian Toussi of the men's swimming and diving squad have been announced as UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Oct. 5.

Jessen posted a pair of fantastic matches across UB's 1-1 stretch last week. The junior averaged 3.89 kills and 2.56 digs per set while also adding six service aces. Jessen was especially productive during the Purple Knights' win over Georgian Court when she piled up a match-high 23 kills in addition to recording her fourth double-double of the year (11 digs). The Colorado native is currently ranked fifth in the CACC in kills per set (3.15) this season.

Toussi was equally as impressive during Bridgeport's season-opening meet at the Fairfield Invitational last Saturday. The Norwegian finished the day with a pair of individual victories against competitors from Fairfield, SCSU and Manhattan. He also assisted in a pair of solid relay efforts for the Purple Knights. Toussi's solo triumphs came in the 100-back (55.96) and the 100-fly (57.15). He also helped UB's 200-medley relay team to a third-place time (1:45.42) and the 400-free relay squad to a second-place finish (3:31.66).
