Rywolt and Miranda Picked as UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Nov. 10-16)
Lindsey Rywolt, Women' Wrestling | Joao Miranda, Men's Soccer
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following championship-winning performances last week, sophomore Lindsey Rywolt of the University of Bridgeport's women's wrestling team and junior Joao Miranda of the men's soccer squad have been named as UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 16, 2025.
Rywolt continued her impressive sophomore campaign with a dominant performance at the Millersville Collegiate Open last Sunday. Recently ranked No. 2 in the NWCA regional rankings, Rywolt lived up to that billing by going a perfect 4-0 to claim the 124-pound championship. She was unstoppable throughout the bracket, earning four straight 10-0 tech falls on her way to the title. The strong outing pushed her season record to 12-1, marking one of the best starts in the region.
Miranda, meanwhile, played a massive role during UB men soccer's run to the CACC Championship last week. He delivered UB's second goal in the semifinal win over Wilmington (PKs), giving the Purple Knights a crucial 2-1 advantage. In the championship match against Post, Miranda played an even larger role, assisting on the game-tying goal in the 61st minute before burying the go-ahead penalty kick in the 76th minute. His clutch performances throughout the postseason earned him a well-deserved spot on the CACC All-Tournament Team.
