Genç and Toussi Named UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Dec. 1-7)
Ceyda Genç, Women's Swimming and Diving | Christian Toussi, Men's Swimming and Diving
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a busy and successful three-day weekend in the pool, freshmen Ceyda Genç and Christian Toussi of the University of Bridgeport's swimming and diving programs have been named as UB's Purple Knights of the Week for the period ending Dec. 7, 2025.
Genç delivered a strong showing at the highly competitive ECAC Winter Championships, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the 100-fly with a time of 57.89 (the fastest mark in the NE10 this season). Her 50-fly split from that race (26.45) also stands as the conference's top time. Genç added three more quality individual performances, placing in the top-19 in the 50-free, 100-free, and 100-back, with all three swims ranking as the fourth-fastest in the NE10 this year. She also contributed on four UB relay squads that recorded times currently second-best in the conference, capping a well-rounded and impactful championship weekend.
Toussi, who was named the NE10's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, joined Genç with superb efforts at the ECAC Championships. Facing a large lineup of Division I swimmers, he produced five individual swims that now lead the NE10. His top results came in the 100-fly, where he claimed runner-up honors in 48.99, and the 100-free, finishing fourth in 44.72—both standing as the fastest times in the NE10. Toussi was equally impactful on UB's relays, helping three squads post league-best performances. His 22.04 50-back split in the 200-medley relay ranks first in the NE10 and ninth nationally in all of Division II this season.
