Thompkins and Vandelli Named UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Jan. 26-Feb. 1)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Senior Rian Thompkins (gymnastics) and sophomore Edoardo Vandelli (men's track and field) have been selected as the University of Bridgeport's Purple Knights of the Week for the period ending Feb. 1, 2026.

Making her first start of the season, Thompkins delivered a career-best performance on beam for the Purple Knights, recording a personal-best 9.750 in a dual meet at Penn. The Atlanta native's score stood as the second-highest beam mark of the day.

Vandelli finished third overall — and second among non-Division I competitors — in the 800m at the Bucknell Bison Challenge and Multis. His time of 1:55.29 currently stands as the fastest mark in the East Region this season.
