Kenney and Dragun Selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week (March 9-15)
Abby Kenney, Gymnastics | Jurica Dragun, Men's Swimming and Diving
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following sterling efforts in competition over the weekend, senior Abby Kenney of the gymnastics team and freshman Jurica Dragun of the men's swimming and diving squad have been selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week for the period ending March 15, 2026.
Dragun shined on the national stage at the 2026 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, earning a pair of All-America honors while representing UB in Evansville, Indiana. The Croatia native first secured first-team All-America recognition in the 100-breast after finishing sixth with a time of 53.14 in the event's A final.
Dragun followed that performance with another impressive swim in the 200-breast, touching the wall in 1:58.31 to place 11th overall. That finish earned Dragun second-team All-America status while also tying UB's school record in the event.
Meanwhile, Kenney continued her sensational senior campaign for the Purple Knights during Sunday's home tri-meet against SCSU and Yale. The New Jersey native captured the all-around title with a score of 39.125 for the second consecutive meet, a mark that stands as her second-highest total of the season. She delivered another balanced performance across all four events, highlighted by matching second-place finishes on both bars and beam with identical scores of 9.775.
Kenney also added a 9.850 on floor to place sixth while recording a 9.725 on vault to finish sixth in that event as well.
