Zarate and Middleton Named UB's Purple Knights of the Week (April 27-May 3)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following superb postseason performances for their respective teams, seniors Vise Zarate (Softball) and Toby Middleton (Track and Field) have been selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week for the period ending May 3, 2026.

Zarate put together a dominant week in the circle for the Purple Knights, tossing 15.2 scoreless innings across three appearances. The right-hander allowed just 11 hits and three walks while striking out 11 batters during the stretch. She also went a perfect 3-0 on the week, highlighted by victories in both games of UB's CACC First Round sweep of Goldey-Beacom on Saturday.

Middleton delivered a thrilling conference-championship performance on Saturday, capturing the CACC title in the 1500m with a time of 4:04.74. The senior surged past the field during the final lap, winning the race by just 0.09 seconds to secure the gold medal. He also added valuable points to UB's team total later in the day with a sixth-place finish in the 5K, crossing the line in 16:04.26.
