Laura Scinto

Bio

Laura Scinto was hired as UB's new Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance on Sept. 29, 2022. In this role, she oversees all NCAA compliance, including recruiting, eligibility, and financial aid. 

Scinto came to Bridgeport from Fairfield University where she served as the Stags' associate head women's basketball coach from 2007-2022. Prior to her tenure at Fairfield, she was assistant women's basketball coach at Southern Connecticut State University from 1998-2007, where she helped the Owls to the 2007 NCAA Division II National Championship.

Laura began her coaching career after a successful four-year playing career at Bryant University, where she eclipsed 1,000 career points and helped lead Bulldogs to three NCAA Tournament appearances. Scinto graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Bryant and went on to earn A.S. and R.N. degrees from St. Vincent's College of Nursing.
 
Scinto played her high school basketball at Shelton High School, where she scored 1,338 points, the second most in the Gaels' history. As a player, she led the squad to the 1985 State Class LL and Housatonic League Championships. She became the most decorated Shelton athlete and the first to graduate with 12 varsity letters while playing basketball, soccer, and softball.

Scinto's prolific high school and collegiate career has earned her induction into four Hall of Fame organizations: the Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, the Greater New Haven Basketball Hall of Fame, the Shelton High School Hall of Fame and the New Haven Tap-Off Club Hall of Fame.
