Baseball Sees Early Leads Slip Away In Home Loss To LIU Post

Bridgeport, Conn.-The host University of Bridgeport baseball team jumped out to quick 4-2 lead over LIU Post after two innings, but the visiting Pioneers stormed back scoring four runs in the seventh and five run in the eighth to notch an 1-4 East Coast Conference win over the Purple Knights on Sunday afternoon at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. UB is now 17-20 overall and 12-8 in the ECC. LIUP is also 12-8 in conference play, and the Pioneers are now 15-12 overall.
Senior John Ascenzia (West Haven, Conn.) and sophomore Casey Ouellette (New Canaan, Conn.) each had two hits on the afternoon for the Purple Knights, and freshman Jose Negron (New Haven, Conn.) drove in two runs.
The UB baseball team is next scheduled to be in action at Post University in Waterbury, Conn. on Tuesday afternoon.
