Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team wrapped up its four-game weekend East Coast Conference series against the LIU Post Pioneers on Saturday afternoon, and UB, playing as the home on the Pioneers' home field, fell in both game, dropping game one, 10-6, and losing game two, 5-3. UB is now 4-22 overall and 1-7 in the ECC. LIU Post ups its season mark to 15-10, and the Pioneers are 5-2 in conference play.
In game one, the Purple Knights banged out14 hits led by senior Ben Torres (Hollywood, Fla.) with three hits. Graduate student Tom Rinaldi (Waterbury, Conn.) had two hits and two runs batted in game one, and sophomore Alex Rauso (Trumbull, Conn.) also had two RBIs.
In the nightcap, senior Daren Grabowski (Berlin, Conn.) blasted his team-leading seventh home run of 2018, a three-run shot in the fifth inning, and senior Jose Negron (New Haven, Conn.) had two hits.
Up next, the UB baseball team is slated to host Assumption College on Wednesday afternoon.
