Hockessin, Del.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team traveled to Delaware to wrap up its 2023 season on Tuesday afternoon with a CACC crossover doubleheader against the host Goldey-Beacom College Lightning, and the Purple Knights dropped both ends of the twinbill losing 12-0 in game one, and 17-5 in game two. UB finishes its season at 9-38 overall and 5-20 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. GBC is now 31-16 overall and 16-8 in conference play.
After being shutout and limited to just five singles in game UB, the Purple Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Lightning heading into the bottom of the third, but the hosts then scored seven runs in that inning and never looked back.
Bridgeport got a pair of runs batted in from Craig Leonard (Grad. Holtsville, N.Y.) and Jeremy Rodrigues (Soph., Monroe, Conn.) in the nightcap, and freshman James Ackerman (Smithtown, N.Y.) had UB's other RBI.
