Palmer and Matturro of Baseball Named CSC Academic All-District

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following diligent performances on the diamond and in the classroom this spring, Brendan Palmer and Anthony Matturro of the University of Bridgeport's baseball squad have each been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team.
Palmer, who holds a 3.74 GPA as a Human Services major, led the Purple Knights in both innings pitched (46.0) and strikeouts (40) this season. In addition, the junior walked just eight batters across nine starts and 10 appearances. Amongst his performances, Palmer tossed six shutout innings and had seven strikeouts in a win over Bloomfield on April 25.
Matturro, meanwhile, has put together a 3.59 cumulative GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major. He logged 36 hits, 19 RBIs, 20 runs scored and 15 stolen bases during his junior campaign this spring. Matturro's numbers also included seven doubles and a pair of home runs across 39 starts.
