Baseball Selected 10th in CACC Preseason Coaches Poll
Purple Knights will begin 2026 campaign will 11 games in South Carolina (Feb. 20 - March 4).
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – With the countdown to the 2026 season at just 24 days, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) released its preseason baseball coaches poll on Tuesday, with the University of Bridgeport slotted 10th.
The Purple Knights will open their 2026 season with an 11-game swing in South Carolina, beginning Feb. 20 against Molloy.
UB enters the new campaign with a strong foundation of experience, returning 30 players from last season's roster. The Purple Knights' top three pitchers in terms of innings pitched are all back while Liam O'Neal also returns after starting 48 games at shortstop.
Bridgeport will also welcome back head coach Joe Tonelli, who is set to begin his 14th year at the helm in 2026. Tonelli stands as UB's all-time winningest coach and eclipsed 400 career wins in 2025.
