MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Playing their first games of the 2026 campaign, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team earned a doubleheader split against Molloy on Friday afternoon at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
GAME TWO – Bridgeport 6, Molloy 4
The Purple Knights broke the game open in the second inning, plating four runs on RBI singles from Andrew Sinclair and Ryan Baldwin, along with run-scoring contributions from JJ O'Connor and Raymond Morales to take a 4-0 lead.
After Molloy answered with a run in the third, Bridgeport responded immediately as Anthony Matturro led off the inning with a single and later scored on a two-run home run to left by Anthony Armenia — the third of his career — extending the advantage to 6-1.
Tyler Pennisi and Matturro both set the tone in the early frames by leading off innings with base hits and coming around to score.
Freshman Christian Walsh earned the win in his first collegiate start, tossing four innings while striking out four batters.
Molloy made things interesting with three runs in the fifth, but Tyler Hodella slammed the door in emphatic fashion.
The senior right-hander was untouchable over the final three innings, allowing no hits while striking out five to secure his first save of the year and seal the 6-4 victory.

Matturro, O'Connor and Conor Lesczczynski all recorded singles to round out Bridgeport's offensive production.
The Purple Knights' bullpen pitched well in the opener. Quentin Moreland tossed three scoreless innings while Logan McGrath yielded just one run in two frames of work.
