Baseball Earns Gutsy 5-4 Win Over Felician
Purple Knights come back from 4-1 deficit, Escape bases-loaded jam in the ninth.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Powered by a dramatic late-inning rally and a sensational effort out of the bullpen, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team earned a gritty 5-4 victory over Felician on Tuesday at Seaside Park. The conference win pushes the Purple Knights' record to 10-14 overall this season, including 6-9 in CACC play.
Trailing 4-1 entering the bottom of the seventh and without a hit to that point, the Purple Knights flipped the game in exciting fashion, beginning with Patrick Krempasky's bases-clearing three-run triple that knotted the score.
Anthony Matturro followed immediately with an RBI single to center, plating the go-ahead run and completing a four-run inning for UB.
Despite finishing with just three hits on the day, UB capitalized on five walks and timely hitting to secure the comeback win.
On the mound, James Ackerman delivered a strong start in a no-decision, allowing just two earned runs over 5.2 innings while keeping UB within striking distance.
The bullpen took over from there, highlighted by Joaquin Brasher's clutch performance down the stretch.
Brasher struck out the side in the eighth inning before escaping a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the ninth to lock down his third save of the season.
