Baseball Takes Down Caldwell in Series Finale, 11-3
Purple Knights set the tone with six runs in first two innings, Walsh picks up his third win on the mound.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Wrapping up a three-game weekend series, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team (12-21, 8-15 CACC) posted an 11-3 win against Caldwell on Sunday at Seaside Park.
The Purple Knights erupted for three runs in each of the first two innings, quickly building a 6-1 advantage and seizing full control of the contest.
UB's offense remained relentless throughout, piling up 14 hits while seeing all nine hitters reach base safely and eight of the nine register at least one hit.
Four Purple Knights recorded multi-hit performances, led by Ryan Baldwin and Anthony Matturro, who each went 3-for-5 at the plate.
Baldwin powered the offense with a season-high four RBIs, collecting a pair of run-scoring doubles along with an RBI single.
Contributions came from throughout the lineup, including Anthony Armenia (2-for-4) and Michael Incontro (2-for-5) as the Purple Knights continued to add insurance runs in the middle and late innings.
On the mound, freshman Christian Walsh delivered a strong outing to earn the win, improving to 3-3 on the season. The right-hander allowed just three runs on four hits over five innings while striking out three.
Matt Wild also pitched well with three scoreless innings out of the bullpen while Quentin Moreland tossed a scoreless ninth.
