Men's Hoops Falls To C.W. Post, 68-64, In ECC Finals

Bridgeport, Conn.-Senior Gil Montalvo hit his only basket of the game with 1:40 to play to give C.W. Post  a 63-62 lead which they never relinquished, as the Pioneers posted a 68-64 win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in the title game of the 2011 East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Championship Tournament.

CWP held Bridgeport to only two points over the final 3:11 of the game, as the Pioneers (21-9 overall) advance to the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament.  Bridgeport ends its season at 19-9.  Sunday's loss snapped a nine-game UB winning streak.

Vaughn Allen of C.W. Post led all players in the game with 16 points, and he was joined in double figures by three teammates.

Junior Josh Martin (Philadelphia, Pa.) led Bridgeport with 15 points, and he was joined in double figures by graduate student Dave Boykin (White Plains, N.Y.) with 14 points and senior Msoo Ikyaator (Nigeria, West Africa) with 13 points.
