Darian David Named ECC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week
Junior Averaged 33.5 Points Per Game In Two Contests
Central Islip, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport junior guard Darian David (Bronx, N.Y.) was been selected as the East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding performances in contest that took place December 19, 2011 through January 2, 2012.
Darian certainly enjoyed a jolly Holiday Season as he averaged a whopping 33.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in two University of Bridgeport tilts. In a tough 79-78 loss at Post University on December 19, David led all scorers with 29 points and grabbed five rebounds. On December 30, he again led all scorers with a season-high 38 points in 34 minutes played and had six rebounds in a Purple Knights victory at Southern Connecticut State University. On the week, Darian shot 62.2 percent from the floor (23 of 37), 70.0 percent from three-point range (7 of 10) and 73.7 percent from the foul line (14 of 19). He also added four assists, one blocked shot and six steals in the two games. On the year, David leads UB in scoring averaging 20.4 points per contest.
This week, David and his Bridgeport teammates face a pair of stern East Coast Conference road games at C.W. Post on Wednesday night and at Queens (N.Y.) College on Saturday afternoon.
