Darian David Earns ECC Men's Basketball Co-Player Of The Week Honors
Junior Earns His Second Conference Award Of The Season
Central Islip, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport junior guard Darian David (Bronx, N.Y.) has been named Co-East Coast Conference Player of the Week for his outstanding play in two Purple Knights' victories in games played from January 9-January 15, 2012. David shares this week's award with Jeremiah Mordi of Queens (N.Y.) College. This is the second time this season that Darian has received ECC accolades.
David helped the Purple Knights go a perfect 2-0 last week as he averaged 24.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per games as the Purple Knights defeated Molloy and the 22nd ranked nationally University of the District of Columbia. Against Molloy, David helped his team rally from being down 24 points in the second half by scoring 20 points in the second half. In Saturday's win over UDC, Darian led all scorers in the tilt with another 24-point performance. On the week, he hit 56.3 % of his field goals (18 of 32); plus he went 9 of 11 from the foul line. David added a total of eight rebounds, seven assists, two blocked shots and six steals on the week.
Up next for Bridgeport, UB faces NYIT at home on Saturday afternoon in its only action of the week.
