Men's Hoops Drops 93-81 Decision To Southern New Hampshire In 2015-16 Season Opener

Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team could not come back from a 12-point halftime deficit, as the Purple Knights lost a 93-81 home decision to the visiting Southern New Hampshire University Penmen 2015-16 season opener for both teams played as part of the University of Bridgeport Men's Basketball Conference Challenge on Saturday.

Senior Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) led Bridgeport in scoring with 22 points.  He was joined in Double-digit scoring by classmate Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 15 points, newcomer, junior Montana Mayfield (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted 14 points and senior Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J.) scored 11 points.

SNHU's Rodney Sanders led all scorers in the game with 32 points.

Both teams will be back in action on Sunday at University of Bridgeport Men's Basketball Conference Challenge, as SNHU will take on Dominican (N.Y.) College at 2:30 p.m., and UB will face Southern Connecticut State at 7:300 p.m. in Bridgeport's Hubbell Gym.
