Top-Seeded University of Bridgeport Men's Basketball Set To Host 2020 NCAA Division II East Regional

Indianapolis, Indiana-For the eleventh time under the direction of 20th-year head coach Mike Ruane and the 23nd time in school history, the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team will participate in the 64-team, NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament.  Bridgeport, the region's top seed, will host to the 2020 NCAA Division II East Regional at UB's Hubbell Gymnasium from Saturday, March 14 through Tuesday, March 17.

The top-seeded Purple Knights will enter NCAA play with a 24-4 overall record after winning the East Coast Conference regular season title and falling to St. Thomas Aquinas in Sunday's ECC Championship Tournament Final, and they will face the number eight seed and fellow East Coast Conference member, the Daemen College Wildcats, on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Game times for the 2020 NCAA Division II East Regional will be set early this week.  Bridgeport swept both games against Daemen this year winning 67-64 in Western New York on January 12 and posting an 83074 win in the Park City on February 7.

This year's regional will mark the first time that the University of Bridgeport has hosted an NCAA Men's Basketball Regional on campus, as the last time UB hosted an NCAA Regional in 1976, the games were played at Fairfield University

The 2020 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball East Regional semifinals will be played on Sunday March 15th, and the regional final will be held on Tuesday, March 17th.

The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team has advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament in the following years: 1968-72-73-76-77-78-79-85-89-90-91-92-2003-04-06-07-09-10-13-14-15-18-20.
