Men's Basketball's Aliou Cisse Named CACC Player of the Year
Scored UB's most points in a season since 2012-13.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following one of the best individual seasons in program history, Aliou Cisse of the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team was named the CACC's Player of the Year on Tuesday afternoon. He is also UB's first All-Conference first-team honoree since 2020 (Bakary Camara).
Cisse's magnificent campaign features 523 total points which is the most for a Purple Knight since 2012-13 (Darian David). In fact, he currently sits with the 29th highest scoring average (20.1 ppg) in all of Division II while shooting 53.2 percent from the field (7th, CACC).
Cisse has scored in double figures in 25 of his 26 games while racking up 11 20-point efforts. He also poured in a season-high 37 points in a win at STAC on Nov. 19. Notably, Cisse has assembled these totals while playing just 27.1 minutes per game—a mark that ranks 35th in the CACC. To compare, the CACC's third and fourth-leading scorers this season each played over 29.5 minutes per contest.
In addition to the offensive numbers, Cisse also has four double-doubles and currently stands with averages of 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.4 assists per contest. He has 10 games this season with at least 15 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Cisse and the rest of the UB men's basketball team will play in the CACC Quarterfinals on Tuesday night at Chestnut Hill (6 p.m.).
