Men's Basketball Falls in OT Thriller to First-Place Felician

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In a game that featured a remarkable 28 ties and 46 lead changes, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team dropped an OT thriller to first-place Felician (13-2, 8-0 CACC) on Tuesday night inside Hubbell Gym. The 99-94 defeat puts the Purple Knights' record at 8-9 this season, including a 5-5 mark in the CACC.
Isaiah Sullivan and Jason Edokpayi each led the Purple Knights with 24 points apiece. Sullivan also tied for the team lead with five assists while Edokpayi grabbed a team-best 11 boards for his fifth double-double of the year.
Sullivan has now posted six 20-point efforts this season while Edokpayi has reached double figures in 12 straight games.
Sullivan's night also featured a trio of clutch free throws with just three seconds left that sent the game into overtime. He finished a perfect 8-for-8 at the line.
John Dash Jr. finished as UB's third player in double figures (10 points) and he also tied with Sullivan with a team-best five assists.
UB's bench was once again a massive strength as the Purple Knights had five different reserves chip in at least five points. All in all, Bridgeport's bench outscored Felician's 32-18.
Jayson Handy led the UB subs with nine points while Jaheem Tyson posted a stat line of five points, seven rebounds and three assists. Tyrell Staples-Santos provided a spark as well with a pair of three-pointers off the bench.
Three-point shooting helped the Purple Knights stay in the game in the second half before eventually forcing OT. UB knocked in six three-balls over the final 13:30 of regulation.
The Purple Knights did a great job moving the ball on offense, finishing with 21 assists, their second highest total of the season. UB also eclipsed 90 points for the fifth time this year.
Bridgeport made the most of its time at the free-throw line as well, making 14-of-17 from the charity stripe.
Defensively, the Purple Knights' earned just two steals (season low) and two blocks against the Golden Falcons.
UB did defend the three-point line effectively though as Felician finished just 5-of-17 from long range.

The Purple Knights will travel to Delaware to face CACC foe Wilmington on Saturday (3 p.m.).
