Sullivan and Edokpayi Earn CACC Men's Basketball Weekly Awards
Isaiah Sullivan, Co-Player of the Week | Jason Edokpayi, Co-Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following superb efforts in a pair of tight conference games, junior Isaiah Sullivan and graduate student Jason Edokpayi of the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team both earned CACC weekly awards on Monday. Sullivan was named the conference's Co-Player of the Week while Edokpayi was tabbed as the Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Sullivan put together outstanding week for the Purple Knights, averaging 26.0 points per game during Bridgeport's 1-1 stretch. He was flawless at the free-throw line, converting all 18 of his attempts across the two games. Sullivan poured in a game-high 28 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting effort in Saturday's road win at Wilmington. Earlier in the week against Felician, he tied for the team lead with five assists and calmly buried three free throws with three seconds remaining to force overtime.
Edokpayi delivered a dominant all-around performance for the Purple Knights during their 1–1 week, finishing with averages of 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. He anchored Bridgeport's late comeback win at Wilmington by registering six blocks, five of which came over the final 8:54 to shut down the Wildcats down the stretch. Earlier in the week against Felician, Edokpayi added a block and a steal while pouring in 24 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
Sullivan, Edokpayi and the rest of UB's men's basketball team will return to action on Wednesday night with a 7:30 game at Post.
