Men's Basketball Taken Down by Jefferson, 77-60
Purple Knights' second-lowest point total of the year.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Hindered by one of their lowest offensive outputs of the season, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team suffered a 77-60 loss to Jefferson on Saturday inside Hubbell Gym. The conference defeat shifts the Purple Knights' record to 9-11 this season, including a 6-7 mark in the CACC.
After the Purple Knights trimmed the Rams' lead to just 57-55 with 7:05 remaining, Jefferson closed the game on a decisive 20-5 run to pull away down the stretch.
UB was limited to 60 points, its second-lowest scoring output of the season, and managed just three made free throws, a new season low.
Despite the setback, four Purple Knights finished in double figures, led by Jason Edokpayi, Isaiah Sullivan and John Dash Jr., who each scored a team-high 12 points.
Dash and Sullivan also shared the team lead with four assists apiece, while Edokpayi controlled the paint with a team-best eight rebounds and three blocks.
Over his last six games, Edokpayi has totaled 16 blocks and now ranks third in the CACC in blocks per game at 1.7, while also sitting fourth in the league in rebounding at 7.5 boards per contest.
Sullivan, meanwhile, reached double figures for the 19th time this season, the most on the team, and ranks fourth in the CACC in scoring at 17.9 points per game.
UB's bench, which has been a major strength this season, was led by two points, seven rebounds and two assists by Jaheem Tyson.
