Cullen and Trama of Men's Lacrosse Tabbed to USILA's National Team of the Week
Duo helped UB to a pair of wins, including an overtime victory over No. 19 Bentley.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – For the first time this season, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team earned representation on the USILA's National Team of the Week. Sophomore Stephen Trama and senior Connor Cullen were both honored for their terrific performances in UB's perfect stretch last week.
Trama put together a standout week for the Purple Knights, tying for the team lead with 12 total points on seven goals and five assists across victories over No. 19 Bentley and Felician. He came through in the clutch against Bentley, netting the game-winning goal in overtime to secure the program's historic triumph. In addition to his offensive production, Trama contributed on the defensive end with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. He continues to serve as a key playmaker for UB, leading the team with 17 assists on the season.
Cullen turned in a dominant performance at the face-off X, going an impressive 28-for-30 with 14 ground balls in the Purple Knights' 2-0 week. He made an immediate impact against No. 19 Bentley, scoring just four seconds into the game, and later added an assist in the win over Felician. Cullen's control of possession proved pivotal in both victories. He now ranks first in the nation in face-off percentage, winning 118 of his 148 attempts (79.7%) this season.
