Purple Knights Set To Host Alliance On Tuesday At 6 PM To Open CACC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament Play
UB Enters The Conference Championship Tournament As The Number Three Sees
Bridgeport, Conn.-The third-seeded University of Bridgeport men's soccer team will open play in the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament with a home quarterfinals match on Tuesday evening, November 1 at 6:00 p.m. versus the number six seed, Alliance University. UB comes into Tuesday's play at 10-5-3 overall, and the Purple Knights finished the CACC regular season with a 8-2-2 record. Alliance comes to Knights Field with a 6-7-4 overall mark and went 6-3-3 in conference play. Bridgeport won the regular season matchup between the two schools with a 3-0 win on Alliance's home field on September 14 getting goals from Jean Louis (So., Bridgeport, Conn.) and Lucas Sousa (So., Campinas, Brazil) plus an own goal. Bridgeport goalkeeper Clement Anet (Grad., Cosse le Vivien, France) was outstanding in the regular season match between the two teams making a total of nine saves to notch the shutout.
Tuesday's winner will move on the CACC Men's Soccer Semifinals which will take place on Friday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Holy Family Univesity. The UB/Alliance victor will face the winner of the Felician vs. Holy Family contest that will also be played on Tuesday.
The 2022 CACC Men's Soccer Championship will be held on Sunday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m., and again the match will take place at Tiger Field on the campus of Holy Family University. The CACC men's soccer champion will receive an automatic bid to this year's NCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Championship Tournament that will begin the following week.
